Joseph Farias was from Portugal, see when he was born he was just one day old, they gave him to my mother’s mother. See they told my mother cause she was living there, she had one son named Antone, the one live in Honolulu, than she when take this one and raise the two boys together. So she brought that one back to Hilo, but grandma when go adopt him and that is how he when carry the Farias name.
Grave stone at Alae Cemetary says he was born in 1868-But when he came to Hawaii in 1883 he was only 11 months old – which would make him born in 1882

Patricia Jacolyn had three children in Cleveland, Ohio, all still living.
Laureen Therese Palmentera -currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio- born July 25.1968 . She has two children and two grandchildren. Kayla Jaqueline Palmentera born in September of 1990-Kayla has one son Elijah born in June 2009 and David Persinger- born June 15 1987 who has one son born April 2010 named David Persinger Jr.
Susan Palmentera-Wordell-born July 16. 1970-married to Paul Wordell-currenly living in Ft. PIerce, Florida-She has two children and one grandchild. Arthur Noglak Jr, born March 21,1987. Arthur has one daughter-GIanna Noglak born March 13, 2008 still living in Cleveland, Ohio and Paul Wordell Jr, born February 14, 2010. Susan is currently pregnant and expecting a girl in November.
Paul Charles Palmentera Jr. born July 5, 1973-still living-never married no children
I found this very interesting as I was looking for my grandmother’s date of death.
My grandmother is/was Emelia Farias married John Rapoza. I am the second daughter of Emelia’s youngest child Pearl Leopoldino who passed away in 1998.

I happened upon your blog while looking for the phone number of my cousin. Jacintho Farias is my maternal Grandfather. He was married to Annie Silva. My mother (their daughter) is Mary Farias Correa. We reside in Kailua, HI. What a wonderful site you’ve created with a wealth of information. I haven’t done too much genealogical research on this side of my family yet so it was a nice surprise to find this site. Please feel free to email me at any time. It’s such a small world. I just moved back to Kailua from Chicago about five years ago. Here I had relatives in IL that I didn’t know about. This was most interesting and I just happened upon it. Took me down memory lane altlhough I’m one of the younger Victorino’s, I am Linda Victorino now 67 to be 68 on 11/24//11. I am now Linda Ann Choy although divorced from Mel Choy. I have 3 children: Barry Choy (wife Susan) born 07/14/65, no children , lives in Maryland, Wendy Lulani AhSam (divorced from Michael AhSam) born 05/28/70 and she has 2 daughters who attend Kamehameha Schools Lia (born 12/29/94 and Mikayla AhSam 05/20/98, she and her daughters live in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Brandon Choy born (03/01/73) lives in Jackonville, Florida. William Farias Victorino, who you have under 9 above, just recently passed away here in Hilo at the age of… 84. That would make him one of Linda’s older brothers (condolences, Linda!)
You’re missing the Maui branch of the family – William’s son Michael P. Victorino is a county councilman there, and his son Shane Patrick Victorino is… kind of well-known. I’ll let you Google him!
I’ve been working on a tree over on Geni.com and will bookmark this blog so I can copy some info. I’ve also got a lot of info you might find useful (copies of obituaries for some of the older folks, et cetera.)

I haven’t yet found a genealogical link from myself to the Farias family (although I’m sure sooner or later there’ll be some sort of convoluted connection) but I live and work in Hilo, and have been working on trees involving a bunch of different surnames that are common here.

Married to Wallace Chin Tai Chow (d. 2004) She had 4 children, James (b. 26 Aug 1949), Elaine (Christian) (B. 3 June 1951, Jane (b. 7July 1953, d. 1972), Diane (b. 12 April 1958) We are working on a family tree for my Paternal Grandmothers’ side (Peralto) when I came upon this site. At the time of this blog, my mother Eleanor and her brother Thomas are the only ones who are alive. My mother who is 90, remembers everyone in the family picture and still can tell stories of “Vovo” Farias, even if her dementia worsens by the day. So good to have pictures that jar her memory. Today was the first day, I have ever seen a picture of my grandmother Emilia who passed away when I was only a month old in 1951. There are profound similarities in her looks to my mother, myself and my daughter. Would love to hear more about the family.

Wow this is so awesome. I’m the granddaughter of Melinda Farias and Joseph Victorino…believe it was 4 generation. My mother, Sally Victorino Craine is their daughter, my mother. I read above that my Aunt Linda (CHOY) responded, she is my mother Sally’s younger sister, my Aunt. I’m Catherine Craine 62 have 1 son Christopher Craine who is married and has 1 child, Sophia Craine who is now 3 and an adopted son Alex who will be 5 next month July and is actually my great nephew (long story). I’d be so interested in finding out more information on my ancestry. I noticed that my grandmother had been married prior to a man named Varese, there is no first/last name I’m assuming that is his surname..not sure..and together had my Uncle Delphine..my grandmother’s first born. And yes my brother Ed married Kandus, 2nd marriage..I did live in Hawaii when I was teenager, went to school there prior to moving to the Phippines as my father was in the Navy. Hawaii is beautiful I miss it very much, haven’t been back since I came to California. My parents have passed awhile now and my Aunt Bernice passed as well a couple of years ago.
