Joshua L. Hudgens Posted: 2 Nov 2010 8:26PM GMTClassification: QuerySurnames: Hudgens Sorry I never got back to your message I just now found that you sent it to me. If you can still help me with trying to find more of my family I would appreciate it. My Great grandfather was Austin Dewitt, his father was John Samuel Hudgens b. Aug 15, 1848 in Ill. d. 1934 Poplar Bluff Mo and buried @ the Hudgens family cemetary there. His wife was Permeley Baley. I do not know John S. parents but have found records that he was born in VA and his mother is from NC. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Josh Hudgens

JoshuaHudgens (View posts) Posted: 28 Oct 2010 2:46AM GMTClassification: QuerySurnames: Sam,
If Allen is your grandfather than I guess we are second cousins. Allen’s brother Earl was my grandfather. Austin’s parents were John Samuel Hudgens and Pamelia (Baily). Both of them are buried at the Hudgens family cemetary with their son Austin and Lula Mae. Also 3 of their 4 sons (Earl, Chester, and Allen. Johnny died in 06 and is buried in WA)their daughter Ruth I can not find when and where she died. I am trying to track down John Samuel far her and am trying to get my father to remember his name I will get back to you when I find it. He was the one that originally bought the Homestead in Poplar Bluff. Of the original 160 acres bought in 1849 Only 32 acres are still in the family. 16 with me and 16 that Chesters daughter still lives on. Also we have the original deed that was signed by President Polk. Sorry to write a novel just wanted to see if I could fill in some of the blanks. Also which one of Allen’s kids is your father? I know he had many children but the only grandkids of Allen’s that I know are
Richards kids( Jeff and Tracy)
.Joshsambroselli (View posts) Posted: 28 Oct 2010 1:30PM GMTClassification: QuerySurnames:Oh i appreciate anything you know!!! Just started searching so everything helps.
I am Sandy’s daughter. Allen and Marizetta had 8 kids. Glenes,Barbara,Sandy,Ricky,Randy,Jimmy and Sonya(she was not Allens).
And i believe Barbara was a twin but the twin did not live at birth. Oh…and Cricket(Lois). Tracy and Jeff are Rickys. Cricket had Travis. Randy has 3,Jimmy has i think 5, Glenes has a couple, etc. (if you want all that info).I moved out of poplar bluff after i graduated so i am familiar w/the cemetery. I remember Rickys big farmhouse out there. so i guess i will start researching John Samuel!!!
