I haven’t done research in several years but my information shows that Rev. William H. Blankenship was married to Susan Hudgens and that Susan was born 23 April 1823 in Tennessee and died 10 Nov 1875 in Illinois. Her father was William L. Hudgens and her mother was Annie Durham.
I have William Blankenship and Susan Hudgens children to be Robert Blankenship, Gilbert Blankenship, Richard Blankenship, Bascome Blankenship, Tennessee Blankenship (female), Fannie Blankenship, Ann Blankenship and George Ann Blankenship.
Susan’s father, William L. Hudgens was born 30 Jan 1797 in Cumberland Co., VA. He came to Tennessee in 1811 when he was 14. He moved to Williamson Co., Illinois in 1852. His brother John Thomas Hudgens also moved to Williamson Co., Illinois. They probably moved at the same time taking their families. Source for the childrens’ names is the Robertson Co., TN 1850 Census. (Cheatham County split from Robertson County.)
Children of William L. Hudgens and Annie Durham are Susan (info already given),
Emily born 25 Aug 1827, in TN, married Ben Everett and died 25 Dec 1875 in Illinois; James S. Hudgens born 17 Aug 1830, married Angeline Stewart, and died 16 Jan 1914,
John Zachariah Hudgens born 23 May 1832, married Permelia Harris 25 Sept. 1856 and died 26 May 1917. John Zachariah Hudgens probably served in the Civil War as a Private in Felts Co., Nashville Infantry Bn.
Thomas B. Hudgens born 26 June 1835, married Sarah and died 9 June 1909;
Aaron Hudgens born 1836 in TN and married Margaret Harris 19 Oct. 1869;
Mary A. Hudgens born 29, June 1840, married 7 Sept. 1881 to L. E. Hunt and died 7 Sept 1881 in Illinois;
Rebecca Hudgens, born 1840 in TN and married Jack Harris,
Anna Hudgens born 1842 in TN and
Moses Hudgens born 30 Sept 1844, married Angeline Corder and died 4 July 1906.
Annie or Anna Durham wife of William L. Hudgens was born in North Carolina and according to the 1850 Robertson Co., Census she could not read or write.
