WILLIAM HUDGENS (1786-1863)

WILLIAM2 HUDGENS (JAMES1) was born Abt. 1786 in Cumberland Co.Va., and died  1863 in Cheatham Co.TN..

He married ANNA P..  She was born 1795 in North Carolina, and died 1870.

    Deed made: Aug 1, 1838 $148 for 42 acres

    This Indenture made this first day of August One thousand eight hundred & thirty eight, Between Adam Grimes of the County of Robertson & State of Tennessee of the one part and William Hudgens Senr of the County & State of the other part.

    Witnesseth that the said Adam Grimes for a Valuable in consideration of the sum of One hundred and forty eight dollars to him in hand paid by the said William Hudgens Senr before the signing these presents Hath bargained, sold, Aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed & doth by these presents bargain Grant sell Alien enfeoff & confirm unto the said William Hudgens Senr his heirs & assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being the county and State aforesaid & on the waters of Spring Creek of Sycamore butted & bounded as follows (to wit).

    Beginning at a dogwood in the East boundary line of said Hudgens tract of land whereon he now lives and at the southwest corner of an old field known by the name Samuel Murphey’s running thence East Eighty poles to a black gum & poplar

    Thence South eighty four poles to a stake in a field
    Thence West eighty poles to a red bud near a Spring
    Thence North Eighty four poles to the beginning containing forty two acres

    more or less to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all advantages hereditaments & appertenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said William Hudgens Senr his heirs & assigns forever and the said Adam Grimes doth covenant & agree to & will defend the aforesaid Bargained land & premises unto the said William Hudgens Senr his heirs and assigns against the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming. In witness whereof the said Adam Grimes hat hereunto set his hand & seal the day & date above written.      A. Grimes (seal)
